Marine Protected Area
Le Castella
Le Castella is about 15 minutes by car (around 12 km). The 15th-century Aragonese Fortress on an islet is one of the most iconic views of the Ionian coast and was used as a set for "L'Armata Brancaleone" and "The Gospel According to St. Matthew".

Capocolonna — Magna Graecia
25 minutes by car · ~20 km
The Sanctuary of Hera Lacinia at Capo Colonna is one of the most important archaeological sites of Magna Graecia. The sole surviving Doric column of the great temple dedicated to the goddess Hera Lacinia — protector of sailors — stands alone on the promontory overlooking the Ionian Sea. The temple, dating to the 5th-4th century BC, was so imposing that sailors used it as a landmark. The National Archaeological Museum of Capo Colonna, adjacent to the site, houses the most important finds from the area.

Valli Cupe — Wild Nature
Half-day trip · ~1 hour by car
The Valli Cupe Nature Reserve in Sersale (CZ) is one of Calabria's most surprising landscapes. Gorges carved in ancient granite, forests of giant ferns (up to 3 metres tall), waterfalls, holm oak and Mediterranean scrub in an unspoiled environment. The reserve takes its name from its defining feature: deep, shaded valleys where light barely penetrates between the rocky walls. An ideal trip for a day away from the sea.

Santa Severina — Medieval village
~40 km · 45 min by car
Santa Severina is a medieval village perched on a hilltop in the Crotone area. The Norman-Swabian Castle (10th century) and the early Christian baptistery — among the most important in southern Italy — make this small town one of Calabria's most fascinating places. Listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy.
